Artist’s Statement – Annette Kasle
For me, photography is all about storytelling. While my images preserve my own stories and memories, my goal is to providing viewers the opportunity to envision their own stories. The interplay of light and shadow, color, texture, and point of view are my tools to stimulate the viewer’s imagination. I use the same principles whether photographing both landscapes and portraits. I seek inspiration from both my travels as well as my everyday world to create images that connect, communicate and inspire.
Portraits provide an excellent opportunity to depict my own relationships and reality while they offer the viewer encouragement to imagine the subjects they would choose and the approach they would take to project their own relationships.
