Join us for a discussion of the role of the small gallery as a launching pad for emerging artists. Ivy Brown of Ivy Brown Gallery in Manhattan and Stephen Perloff, editor of The Photo Review will lead the event.

Join us on December 6 - 29th for the results of this popular competition. Photographers from the United States submitted over 1000 images for our juror, David Lewis, to pore over. In the end he selected 36 images from 30 artists. We celebrate this event with a blow-out reception on Saturday December 7th from 5 - 7pm. All are welcome.

In her recent work, Vitreous Humor, Lois Youmans returns to photographing dolls. However, the battered antique dolls are now accompanied by medical illustrations from 1916. the illustrations are brightly colored, simple to understand, and unintentionally funny. The pairing of these objects results in strangely whimsical imagery without any pretense of having a deeper meaning.

In Waiting for Godot Feuerstein states, “Abstract Art is the essence and an intrinsic part of all art. A painting or photograph may appear to represent something tangible and 'real,' but the nature of Abstract Art is to go beyond the real to depict an object as a combination of color, texture & form. The spirituality and transcendence of the images are but a fleeting moment in time, an existential experience.”

Bruce Cohen presents intimate portraits of New Yorkers on the streets. Aleta Cortes and the Patchogue Artspace photographers are guest exhibitors this month at fotofoto gallery.

In Whisper Loudly, Patricia Beary presents compelling images from European cemeteries. Narratives are exposed in the artifacts and architecture of memorials often in ruin. Each image solicits inquiry. Questions will outnumber answers as the viewer interprets incongruous relics. In a setting honoring the dead, life is revealed.

Tulips....the flower that is fun to kiss and the bulb that uses no electricity yet lights up your garden and your spirits is the subject of this photography exhibition at fotofoto gallery in May 2014. No wonder fine art photographer, Holly Gordon, has been so focused on this photogenic garden favorite throughout the decades. This upbeat exhibition exalts the glorious tulips that have been photographed throughout Holly’s worldwide travels from Monet’s garden in Giverny to our Long Island flowerbeds and places in between.
