Paul_Mele GRiM Announcement solo show Dec 2020

Deep within us all dwells a natural fascination with morbidity. A sinister side that by social standards is not considered the “norm” and frowned upon by the majority as “weird.”

GRiM is a series of photographs that explores the inner demons of human nature, exposing these morbid fascinations as something complex, beautiful, and ultimately human.

About the Artist
A fotofoto gallery and Soho Photo gallery artist, Paul Mele is a photographer living and working on Long Island. His photographs often illustrate time’s way of imposing it’s will upon all things and the wreckage it leaves behind. To achieve his vision Paul shoots, edits and prints all his own work. He holds certifications in photography from both Nassau Community College on Long Island and the International Center of Photography in New York City. He has also studied with Vincent Versace and Neal Parent at the Maine Media Workshop, and with Carlan Tapp at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshop.

His work has been exhibited on Long Island and in New York City, including Alfred Van Loen Gallery, Art League of Long Island, b.j. Spoke, Fire House Gallery, fotofoto gallery, Guild Hall, Heckscher Museum of Art (2018 Biennial), Huntington Art Center, Michael Braceland Gallery, Mills Pond Gallery, Salmagundi Club, Soho Photo Gallery, the Solarium at Houghton Hall and A Smith Gallery in Texas and in online exhibitions hosted by the Hampton’s Art Hub, NYC4PA and Plymouth Center for the Arts.
