DESCRIPTION:In Whisper Loudly\, Patricia Beary presents compelling images from European cemeteries. Narratives are exposed in the artifacts and architecture of memorials often in ruin. Each image solicits inquiry. Questions will outnumber answers as the viewer interprets incongruous relics.  In a setting honoring the dead\, life is revealed. \nTulips….the flower that is fun to kiss and the bulb that uses no electricity yet lights up your garden and your spirits is the subject of this photography exhibition at fotofoto gallery in May 2014. No wonder fine art photographer\, Holly Gordon\, has been so focused on this photogenic garden favorite throughout the decades. This upbeat exhibition exalts the glorious tulips that have been photographed throughout Holly’s worldwide travels from Monet’s garden in Giverny to our Long Island flowerbeds and places in between. \nPublic reception is free on May 3\, 2014 from 5 – 7pm.

SUMMARY:Richard Gardner & Michelle Carollo - SPARKBOOM Kick Off Event
DESCRIPTION:New York Underground \nPhotographs by Richard Gardner \nThe main objective of the artist/photographer Richard Gardner is to translate explicit reality\, that which is perceived by the naked eye\, into a new personal truth – a reality implicit through the subconscious. \nNew York City and especially its subway has always been a gritty\, blurry tableau. This artist bears witness to urban humanity struggling to avoid eye contact and striving to remain autonomous within a densely populated and unnaturally constricted space. The imagery is inherently grainy and strikingly high-contrast\, and the complexity of this theme begs the use of the black and white medium. \nAll of the images for this exhibit are printed on aluminum plates. In each photograph\, where the artist excludes imagery\, crafting white space\, the space is replaced and reality subtly altered through the introduction of an inorganic material. Through this medium\, a biomechanical energy is imbued thus enhancing the artist’s vision of a consciously disconnected\, present-day dystopia. \n  \nIn A Split \nInstallation by Michelle Carollo \nIn this exhibition\, Carollo presents In A Split\, a work which functions as both installation and wall hanging\, with numerous elements of aluminum\, plastic\, metal and wood protruding out into the gallery space.  The piece primarily abstract in vein\, is meant to highlight questions of boundaries both literal and figurative asking viewers to navigate contours of the edge. \n  \n  \nApril 6\, 2013 is the kickoff event for SPARKBOOM held at the fotofoto gallery.  fotofoto gallery is one of twelve partners committed to highlighting the high level of innovative artistic and cultural resources surrounding the Huntington hub. SPARKBOOM is a collective initiative to create vibrant events and opportunities that foster Long Island’s emerging creative talent. April – September\, 2013
