SUMMARY:Poetry at fotofoto gallery
DESCRIPTION:Pamela Castelli has experienced the profound healing poetry can offer as one progresses on their personal journey. Her poems reflect both the ongoing struggle to make sense of human emotions and the evolution of the spiritual self.  She works as a psychotherapist helping individuals heal from traumatic childhood experiences\, incorporating yoga and meditation into her private practice. \nAnne Cognato is a poet\, photographer\, gardener\, and IT professional.  Her work has been published in various anthologies\, including Bards Annual\, MudFish 25\, Suffolk County Poetry Review\, and Green Prints.  She was a finalist in the 2025 Babylon Village Arts Council poetry contest. \n\n \nLorraine Conklin is the Nassau County Poet Laureate Emeritus (2015-2017)\, V.P. of the NCPLS\, PPA Events Coordinator\, and Dir of Program Development for the LIWG. Her poems have been published nationally and internationally in anthologies and literary reviews\, two-time winner in the Allan Ginsburg Poetry Contest.  \nGloria g. Murray’s poetry and prose appeared in journals including Flapperhouse\,   Paterson Review\, Poet Lore\, Moment\, Third Wednesday\, Adelaide\, and others. She is 1st place winner of the 2014 Anna Davidson Rosenberg award\, Poetica Magazine\, 3rd winner 2017 Writer’s Digest Poetry contest\, has poetry chapbooks and a novella\, CALAMITY JANE\, available.  \n\n \nAronda Xystris is a former Art educator from Huntington\, whose poetry has been published in the Suffolk County Poetry Review. She has always had a creative spirit\, and is an exhibiting photographer\, painter\, upcycler\, and assemblage creator of random found objects. She has been writing poetry since elementary school\, where her assigned seat on class library day was near the poetry section. The small volumes of prose and poems delighted her and sparked her creative imagination. Her short stories began later\, and continued during her travels\, wherever she found a pen or pencil and paper. She is currently working on a series of family essays and poems. \nMary Winters is the author of Just Between Us.  She’s a member of the Farmingdale Poetry/ Creative Writing Group\, Smithtown Library Writers Group\, and Long Island Writers’ Guild.  Mary’s poems have been published nationally and internationally.  She serves on the Advisory Board for the Nassau County Poet Laureate Society.

She is a fine art photographer who has exhibited around Long Island. In her spare time\, in addition to being a photographer\, she is a poet\, an IT professional and aspiring harp player. \n“Roots” anchor a flower in place allowing it to withstand the elements. Roots spread throughout a family linking one generation to another. This show was created through my love of flowers\, family and childhood memories.\nMy great-grandmother\, Johanna\, had a beautiful flower garden and grass that was like velvet on bare feet. She is featured in two pictures. In her beautiful dress\, I have added red tulips across the picture. The tulip pictures were captured in early morning daylight filtered in through a window. Johanna is in another picture with my great-grandfather in front of their house. Windflower gives the photo texture\, while the cone flower brightens it up.\nMy Aunt Ella was an artist\, selling her work on the sidewalks of Hoboken. Every year for her birthday\, my uncle would buy her a rose bush. Her garden was full of them.\nMy parents on their wedding day\, Love in a Mist\, my brother and I in front of an old TV\, Central Park\, postcards written in German\, silver dollar plants\, flapper girls and alliums\, blanket flower – This is my family\, and these are my flowers.” \nRICHARD GARDNERGardner’s roots are grounded in beauty. Major influences include the celebrated fashion photographer Sarah Moon in addition to Surrealist artist Man Ray. For decades\, as a hairdresser\, make-up artist\, and photographer\, he has documented the perceived reality of beauty within the current zeitgeist. A collection of atmospheric blossoms has been created as a tribute to the memory of Juliet Man Ray\, wife of the surrealist artist Man Ray. The selection is named for a Haiku I wrote many years ago for my dear friend\, Juliet\, shortly after her death. ‘Breath in Autumn chill I touched the flower The very last rose”
