“After closing it’s doors in 1996, the Kings Park Psychiatric Center has been left with only abandonment, time and vandals as it’s primary caretakers for twenty one years. Crawling with decaying textures and messages left in spray paint by today’s youth almost all traces of the facility as a Psychiatric Center have been removed. This once self-sufficient community that housed over 9,300 patients at its peak is now a habitation for asbestos, graffiti, broken glass, collapsed walls, beer bottles and the stale stench of mold. After one hundred and thirty one years the Kings Park Psychiatric Center is now just a rotting foot note in Long Island’s History.”
“Within The Remains” is a series of photographs giving a glimpse into twenty one years of neglect in todays society.
