This July in Gubbio, Italy the photographic artists of fotofoto gallery will participate in an international exchange show. The exhibit, entitled “Made in America”, is part of the gallery’s international outreach and cultural exchange program. Earlier this year Paolo Tosti, Director of the Terracomunica International Project, along with a group of students from the 2013 Umbria Festival photography workshop, exhibited at fotofoto gallery in Huntington, New York. Now Gubbio will play host to this exciting and diverse collection of photographs, all of which are “Made in America”.
Alli Rufrano, of fotofoto gallery, is coordinating this exhibit while simultaneously leading the 2014 Terracomunica workshop. You can learn more about this by referring to an earlier blog posting here.
So, if you can’t make it to Italy between July 2nd and July 14th, feel free to make the shorter excursion to fotofoto gallery on 14 West Carver Street in beautiful downtown Huntington, New York for the “BIG” exhibit. The gallery artists at fotofoto will be going BIG with large sized, original prints that exemplify the creative diversity of this group of photographers. Admission, as always, is free!
Hope to see you in Gubbio or Huntington in July!
Spring is finally here – and so are some exciting new works from FotoFoto Gallery photographer Bruce Cohen. “Faces of New York” is Bruce’s latest portfolio of images. For fifty years Bruce Cohen has walked the streets of New York City taking photographs of the “faces” of New York. From Inwood, to Lower Manhattan, to Greenwich Village, to Chinatown, to Tribecca, to Dumbo, to Coney Island, and to the Battery, all was sacred photographic territory. This exhibition is a compilation of photographs from the last two years. Shot digitally in Black and White and done in the 19th century styles of platinum, tintype, palladium and daguerreotype, these new images take on a classic, vintage appearance.
The opening reception is Saturday, April 5th from 5pm to 7pm, it is free and open to the public.
Also in April is the second part of an incredible collaborative exhibit between FotoFoto Gallery and ArtSpace Patchogue – “Northwest Meets Southeast”. Thirty photographers from the two galleries have works on display at host ArtSpace’s facility until April 4th. Following the conclusion of “part I”, “part II” has FotoFoto reciprocating by playing host to the group of Patchogue photographers.
So help say “goodbye” to winter and “hello” to spring by getting out, enjoying and supporting the photographic arts!
Beginning Monday, March 17th and running through Sunday, March 30th, FotoFoto Gallery members will be exhibiting works at ArtSpace Patchogue. This is a special, two part collaboration of 38 photographers from two unique Long Island galleries.
There will be an opening reception for this event on Saturday, March 22nd from 7pm until 9:30pm. Admission is free and all are welcome.
ArtSpace Patchogue: “In the Village of Patchogue, a Long Island community about 50 miles east of New York City, is a new five-story building with 45 affordable live/work spaces on the upper floors and The Patchogue Arts Council and The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center at street level. Located in downtown Patchogue, the $18 million project represents both economic revitalization and the opportunity to strengthen a growing arts community; many Main Street storefronts are now occupied by artists and creative businesses. We broke ground in January 2010 and completed the project in early 2011. The Gallery at Artspace Patchogue is a 2000 square foot space which allows resident artists, local, national, and international artists a chance to share their works with the local community and visitors from all over.”
FotoFoto Gallery: “Founded in October 2003 by a group of Long Island based photogaphers desiring to promote experimental and traditional photographic processes and visions. The gallery is located at 14 West Carver St. in Huntington, NY. In 2010, fotofoto was awarded status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our purpose is to conduct a cooperative photographic gallery dedicated to the encouragement of the artistic development of photographers, without limit to subject matter or technique; to serve both its members and the public by organizing exhibitions, lectures, critiques, demonstrations, seminars and instruction; and by the sharing of experiences both at our current location and at locations outside of our physical space.”
Following this exhibit, FotoFoto Gallery will play host to the ArtSpace photographers at our gallery in Huntington. Part two of this collaboration runs from April 4th through April 27th, with an opening reception Saturday, April 5th from 7pm until 9pm. As always, this is a free event and all are invited to attend.
