“down under” explores the visual and spiritual adventure experienced during travel to Australia and New Zealand. The photographer’s personal experience of the place permeates the imagery she captured. The land’s beauty, spirituality, and mystery are all evidenced in “down under.”
Ms. Dooley considers “down under” to be a departure from her past work. “My usual goal is to make images about people that are representative of the human condition as well as the unique character and situation of the subject,” she said. “This work is more landscape oriented and abstract, addressing the influence that the location had on my photographic vision as well as my psyche. My experience of place is heightened when I look through the viewfinder.”
